This South Australian Road Trips app was born out of a strategic idea rather than just the need to create an app. The South Australian Tourism Commission currently offers travellers the choice of six road journeys around SA. Each is loosely themed on an experience but are mostly destination based. The idea is to offer special itineraries within each journey that focus on specific interests and themes. So for example, within one journey there might be an itinerary for cheese lovers, one for people who have dogs, another for people who want to rough it but still want good food and wine. Seasonal and special event itineraries could also be added along with curated road trips courtesy of celebrity chefs such as Maggie Beer. The overall intention is to create repeat visitation using the existing limited assets as well as providing a tool for travellers to research, plan, and book their journeys, and then be guided along the way.
